Aboriginal Education

The Aboriginal Education Faculty at CHS is comprised of a team of Aboriginal Secondary Education Transition Officers and Aboriginal Education Teachers who are dedicated to providing educational, wellbeing and cultural support for all of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. We aim to provide a culturally safe and inclusive space for our community of successful learners, situated in Kumangka Kuu (Kaurna for Together Room). This space is always open to parents and students.

We offer a range of programs including SAASTA, Parent Nights, yarn sessions, APAS tutoring support, mentoring and wellbeing programs, transition pathways and scholarship assistance, and cultural excursions and experiences.

SAASTA

South Australian Aboriginal Secondary Training Academy provides Aboriginal high school students with a unique sporting and educational program. Our academies work with school leaders and local communities all across South Australia. We give students the skills, opportunities and confidence to dream, believe and achieve in the areas of sport, education, employment, healthy living and connection with their culture.

SAASTA is available to students in years 10, 11 and 12 who are studying the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
