Inclusive Education
Quality Differentiated Teaching Practice
At Craigmore High School, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment through quality differentiated teaching practices paired with a restorative practices approach. Our educators tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring that each learner can access the curriculum and achieve their potential. By differentiating content, teacher instructions, and assessment, we cater to varying abilities and learning styles.
In-Class School Services Officers (SSO) Support
At Craigmore High School, our School Services Officers (SSOs) are essential in providing personalised support to students within the classroom. Access to SSO support is determined by verified disability, student data, and Department for Education (DfE) guidelines related to Inclusive Education Support Program (IESP) funding.
Our SSOs offer tailored assistance, helping students apply skills and strategies from social skills and academic tutoring sessions. They focus on teaching, reteaching, and supporting academic and behavioural strategies, ensuring students understand content and instructions. Our SSOs set small goals and conduct regular check-ins throughout lessons to support student progress.
All Learning Support SSOs participate in professional development on trauma-informed practices and effective scaffolding, ensuring they meet the specific needs of each student. By providing necessary support, SSOs facilitate student growth, independence, and positive working habits, adapting their approach based on individual needs and curriculum access requirements.
Learner Engagement and Personalised Program (LEAPP)
Craigmore High School offers the Learner Engagement and Personalised Program (LEAPP) to selected students receiving Inclusive Education Support Program (IESP) funding. LEAPP is designed to provide tailored academic and behavioural support for students from Years 7 to 12.
Program Focus
As students progress into senior school, the program focuses on South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) compulsory subjects, including English, Mathematics, EIF, and AIF. Through LEAPP, students have access to enriching opportunities such as Emotional Regulation through Animal Therapy, Transport Training, and Work Experience, enhancing their educational journey and personal development.
Support Team
In addition to our Inclusive Education Teachers and Classroom SSOs, our dedicated team includes a Functional Behaviour Therapist, Social Skills Mentor, and IESP Case Managers. These professionals offer small group and one-on-one support that is disability and data-informed, ensuring meaningful outcomes for each student.
