Wellbeing Programs

At Craigmore High School, we offer a variety of wellbeing programs designed to support our students’ emotional and personal development.

JUMP

JUMP is a fantastic program designed to help young people build confidence and self-awareness. Through engaging activities, students reflect on their personal thoughts and feelings related to themselves, their family, their goals, and self-worth.

Feeling Fantastic

Created by Kenneth Nathan, the Feeling Fantastic workshop helps young people navigate the emotional challenges of adolescence. Over six weeks, students learn to process thoughts and feelings healthily, covering topics like:

  1. Feel the Emotion
  2. Accept the Emotion
  3. Name the Emotion
  4. Tame the Emotion
  5. Air Out the Emotion
  6. Review, Evaluate, Celebrate

Participants gain practical skills to understand and regulate their emotions, promoting lasting emotional well-being.

Pathways to Independence Program (PIP)

PIP equips older students with practical skills and knowledge for adult life. Starting with emotional intelligence and mindfulness, the program covers budgeting, rent, housing, and other essential life skills.

RAGE (Re-navigating Anger & Guilty Emotions)

RAGE is an award-winning anger management course for young people aged 11-17. It focuses on strengths and solutions, helping students understand and manage their emotions with healthy responses.

THRIVE

THRIVE is a 1:1 wellbeing program for students with diagnosed ADHD. It helps students understand their symptoms, develop strategies, and build a supportive network. Students create an individualised ADHD action plan shared with relevant staff for coordinated support.

Operation Flinders

Operation Flinders is a Wilderness Therapy Program for young people aged 16-18. Held at Yankaninna Station in the Flinders Ranges, it develops team skills, personal strengths, resilience, and bush survival skills through exciting challenges.

Success Day

Year 7 students participate in a day to encourage friendships and a sense of belonging. Held at a swimming pool, the day includes fun activities, music, and a sausage sizzle, led by senior student House Captains and CARE teachers.

Voyage Intervention Program

We are excited to introduce the Voyage Intervention Program, a dynamic and engaging initiative designed to empower Year 9 and 10 students at Craigmore High School. This program supports students in developing essential life skills, emotional intelligence, and confidence, equipping them with strategies to navigate both school and personal challenges effectively. Voyage draws upon successful evidence-based practices such as Rock and Water, Intervention Plus, and ShineSA.

Program Overview

Through interactive activities, group discussions, and hands-on experiences, students will explore topics such as self-regulation, emotional awareness, resilience, conflict resolution, communication, and goal setting. The program incorporates psychophysical activities, reflection exercises, excursions, and journaling to encourage self-discovery and growth. The purpose of Voyage is to develop a greater sense of belonging to school, re-engaging students in their learning to foster successful outcomes.

Participation Details

Voyage is a 10-week in-school program where students can earn 10 or 20 SACE credits, depending on their level of participation and demonstrated understanding. During the program, students will be temporarily removed from half of the learning time from a select subject. Sessions are scheduled for either Mondays and Fridays from 1:25 pm to 2:20 pm or Thursdays from 9:00 am to 10:45 am. This schedule has been communicated with relevant learning area leaders and teaching staff to ensure students are supported in their regular classes.

Learner Engagement Support (LES)

At Craigmore High School, Learner Engagement Support (LES) sessions are part of our restorative and inclusive approach to student behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement. Delivered by our Social Skills Mentors, LES provides one-on-one, targeted support for students following a suspension or a significant breach of our school values.

The purpose of LES is to support all Craigmore High School students to reflect on their behaviour, rebuild engagement, and re-enter the school learning environment with the skills and strategies they need to succeed.

LES sessions focus on:

    • Unpacking the incident and exploring the context and contributing factors.
    • Identifying and practicing positive alternatives for future behaviour.
    • Teaching strategies for emotional regulation, conflict resolution and seeking additional support.
    • Reconnecting students with their academic responsibilities through scaffolded, one-on-one academic support.
    • Collaborating with teachers to ensure reasonable adjustments are in place where needed.

LES reduces the amount of time students spend away from school while increasing their opportunities for meaningful restorative practices, social-emotional learning, and academic progress
