The Arts at Craigmore High School

At Craigmore High School, students explore a diverse range of artistic endeavours, including drama, dance, music, visual art, design, jewellery, film, and photography. Our Arts program encourages students to specialise in the field that best suits their personal interests, allowing for in-depth study and enrichment of their learning experience.

Program Overview

    • Years 7 and 8: Arts is compulsory, with students choosing one semester in their preferred field.
    • Year 9 Onwards: Arts become elective subjects, allowing students to specialise in areas such as dance, drama, music, visual art, design, film, and photography.
    • Senior Years (Stage 1 and Stage 2): Students can study music, visual art – art, visual art – design, and dance and drama through creative arts. Film and photography studies continue in Technologies.

Learning Environment

Our Arts department sets high expectations, leading to high-calibre performances and innovative artworks. We prioritise student voice, allowing students to contribute to curriculum and task design, artistic styles, and genres studied. Our collaborative learning spaces are equipped with specialist resources, including clay, pottery wheels, digital cameras, microphones, lights, and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. Our performing arts space supports music, drama, and dance productions, enabling students to showcase their work to the wider community.

Opportunities and Events

Craigmore High School participates in the Northern Adelaide State Secondary Schools’ Alliance (NASSSA) Battle of the Bands. Students also have opportunities to showcase their talents at school functions such as Presentation Night, Graduation, school assemblies, and community events like CanDance for a Cure and the Schools Challenge.
