Science
Our Science program equips students with a solid understanding of the scientific approach to problem-solving. Students learn to plan and conduct their own experiments to test hypotheses, analyse data, and apply scientific reasoning to evaluate results. This process helps build a strong conceptual understanding of scientific principles.
We encourage students to connect classroom content with real-life contexts, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through “Science as a Human Endeavour” tasks, students explore contemporary solutions to modern issues, linking science and society.
Curriculum Overview
Science is a compulsory subject from Year 7 to Year 10. For SACE Stage 1 and 2 students, Science becomes an elective, allowing them to specialise in fields of their interest.
Specialised Fields of Study
From Stage 1 onwards, students can choose from various fields of study, including:
• Chemistry
• Biology
• Physics
• Psychology
• Integrated Learning – Applied Healthcare
These options enable students to tailor their Science education to their interests and career aspirations.
Enrichment Opportunities
We offer annual participation in NASSSA Science Olympics competitions and Science Alive STEM excursions. Additionally, students can engage in various programs such as the UniSA STEM Girls program, providing further opportunities to explore and excel in Science.
